Common Questions About Custom Software

They overlap, and often the answer is both. A web application usually faces your customers. Business software faces your team: it handles the jobs, records, scheduling and reporting that keep the operation running. We build both on the same modern stack, so if you need a customer-facing portal on top of an internal system, it is one project rather than two.

Often it is not, and we will say so. If a well-established product fits your process at a reasonable price, buying it is the right call and we will help you set it up. Custom becomes worth it when you are paying for five tools that half-fit, when the workarounds cost real hours every week, or when the thing that makes your business distinctive is the exact thing no product supports.

It depends entirely on scope, but we do not do year-long projects with nothing to show. We scope a first useful version, usually something that replaces one painful process, and get it into your hands within weeks. From there we extend it based on what you learn using it, which is far more reliable than trying to specify everything up front.

You own the code. We build on mainstream open technologies — PostgreSQL, Django, FastAPI, React — specifically so any competent developer can pick it up. No proprietary platform, no per-seat licence to us, no hostage situation. We would rather earn the ongoing work than lock you into it.
